Take one large suitcase,

and fill it with baggage.

Sit on the lid to hold it

closed, pack it all in.

Put it in the boot of your

car, drive to the river.

Throw it in.

Watch it sink.

Let it go.

Forgive and forget,

revenge and regret.

Maybes, and wishes, for things

that were different, begone.

Chains from your ankles, weigh

it down to the bottom to drown.

Rather than you.

Nothing to loose anymore.

You choose.

Survivor or victim,

you make the decision.

To exist or to live,

to grasp what you have,

and let go of everything else.

But at the last minute,

you’ll jump in the river,

and re-claim your burden once more.

You’ll hold tight to your cross,

and treasure your loss,

and we’ll drive round in circles again.

This inevitable cycle of pain.

It will drive us all mad in the end.

I’ll be down in the river,

while you and your suitcase

will watch from dry land.
